Well, the sun wasn’t as kind to us this weekend as it was the Saturday before at Sanford’s Farm but nonetheless, we still had a wonderful afternoon up on picturesque Whidbey Island at Camelot Downs Farm! Farmers Gary and Lois Fisher graciously opened their gates to 30 eager attendees, all braving the biting wind to watch this year’s 22 new spring lambs frolic across the rolling fields. Under the watchful eyes of Dolly Llama and Ginny the Hinny, tour participants wandered the fields with the Fishers and PCC Farmland Trust staff to learn more about colonial breed livestock, chicken tractors, and the importance of farmland conservation in Washington State. Special thanks to all of the little Farmland Trust supporters who so bravely endured the brisk March weather in their colorful galoshes and rain slickers!
