2,000 acres conserved and counting

We are thrilled to share the news that as of this week, our total number of protected acres passed the 2,000 mark!

Just yesterday, PCC Farmland Trust conserved 40 acres of beautiful farmland in Pierce County — the Ford Farm in Orting, Wash. The Ford Farm is located on the last remaining acres of the historic Ford Family Dairy, a portion of which the Trust conserved in 2009 through our Orting Valley Farms project. Just outside the city of Orting, the Ford Farm is right in the heart of our focus area, with flat farm fields, good drainage, and prime soils for growing vegetables. In addition, the project allows for an opportunity to partner with Pierce County Surface Water Management to enhance fish habitat along the Puyallup River, which runs adjacent to the farm.

You have stood by our side as we’ve worked to revive the agricultural community in Pierce County over the last decade. We are thrilled to continue those efforts through our conservation of the Ford Farm, bringing our total protected acres in Pierce County to 724.

Thank you for your continued support of our work!
